Santarpaniya Vikara refers to metabolic and systemic disorders caused by over-nutrition, sluggish metabolism, and the accumulation of Ama (undigested toxic waste). Jwara (fever), primarily a Kapha-Pradhana Tridoshaja manifestation characterized by Agnimandya (weakened digestive fire) and Srotorodha (channel obstruction), represents a classic acute or chronic manifestation where Santarpana (over-saturation) pathology must be systematically countered. This review explores the role of traditional Ayurvedic dietary formulations in the management of Jwara (fever). It compiles references from classical texts to analyze the formulations-such as Manda, Peya, Yavagu, Yusha, Sattu, and others- through their pharmacodynamic attributes (Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipaka). Their actions on Dosha, Dhatu, Mala, and Srotas are discussed in relation to the stages of Jwara. The article highlights how food preparations act beyond nutrition to serve as therapeutic agents, rekindling Agni, correcting metabolic disturbances, and supporting systemic recovery.
